What is an individual cremation?

Individual cremation means your pet is placed in the crematory chamber separately from other pets so when the cremation is complete, Gateway ensures that your pet’s individual ashes are returned to you.

This option is suitable if you want to keep your pet’s cremated remains as a permanent and personal keepsake. This costs more than communal cremation.

Memorialize your pet

Your pet’s remains will be returned to you in a keepsake of your choosing. You may have the cremains returned in an urn engraved with your pet’s name, or with their name and dates of life. See the urn choices included with the individual cremation.

Do you have a special spot where you would like to scatter their ashes as their final resting place? If you prefer, the cremated remains can be returned to you in a scattering tube or a silk pouch. These two options cannot be personalized.

If you’re interested in additional memorial products or ideas such as paw prints, bio urns, donations, and more, we have compiled a list on our resource page.

After the euthanasia procedure

If you have chosen to have your pet cremated after the euthanasia procedure, they will be placed in an aftercare bag and taken to the vehicle. You are welcome to assist us if you wish. Brooke Mobile Veterinary Hospice Services will transport your pet for pick up by Gateway Pet Memorial cremation services.

At this time you can choose the urn and other memorial items. After the pet’s cremains are returned, you can pick them up from us or your regular veterinary clinic.

The home visit, sedation, euthanasia and transportation of your pet with individual cremation will cost between $1,005 to $1,055 + HST.
